It’s a B-E-A-UTIFUL Day! - In memory of our beloved Sheena Sheena-Girl, Sweet Pea, Baby-Girl, Baby-Doll, and Flower. Woody sent you to us because he knew our wandering souls needed to find strength in each other. You found a home, learned to trust, felt safe and happy, and blossomed in our love. You were our sunshine, brought us happiness, and taught us how important it is to cherish every moment of this magical life. You filled the void that was left by Woody… and now we are left with the void of losing you. Baby-Girl, carry with you our love, and we will tuck you in hearts so we will always feel the warmth of what you taught us most… that every day of life is… a B-E-A-UTIFUL Day! We love you Sweet Pea… have fun with Woody (don’t be a Growly-Girl) until we all get to be together again! Love, your Mama… and Dad! |
In loving memory of "Sheena"
A few words about "Sheena". In 2003, when we lost Woody, we didn't think much about getting another dog. We couldn't imagine how any dog could ever bring us as much joy and happiness. For months, missing Woody, we wandered along through our daily lives like a couple of pitiful souls... until, one day, someone came to us and said... "you need to rescue a golden" and gave us a pamphlet for the the 'GRROW / Golden Retriever Rescue Of Wisconsin' website. I remember looking at it and saying... "unless it's Woody, I wouldn't want another golden". The funny thing is, believe it or not... as soon as we went on the website, the first dog that came up was named "Woody"! We took that as a sign from Woody... and naturally we had to go visit that dog. As it turned out, that particular dog was not the right fit for us. But we did sign up to be on the list to adopt a golden. Now here's the story gets interesting... Just before Woody died, he did a really strange thing... as I was driving, he was laying on the floor of the van, with his head resting heavy in my hand while I drove to the vet. At one point, he lifted his head, and gave me a big lick across the palm of hand. This was very unusual behavior for Woody because he never did this sort of thing... and it sent an electrical charge through me as if he was trying to tell me something. At the time, I didn't know what that was... because I didn't, as yet, even know he was going to die... but it was significant enough that I told Cindy about it... that Woody was trying to tell me something... about nine months later, I found out what that was... We had been on the 'GRROW' waiting list for a golden... it was November 1st, and on this day, one of the foster volunteers for 'GRROW' was bringing us a dog named 'Sheena' that was in need of a forever home. As soon as she walked in the door, she came right up to me, gave the palm of my hand a big lick and rested her head heavy on my hand! It sent that same electrical feeling up my arm!!! To some this would sound silly... but I know for a fact EXACTLY what that meant!! Woody, had sent Sheena-Girl to us!! He knew that she was a lost soul searching for home, and that we were lost souls in need of a guardian angel companion to fill help fill the hole in our hearts. Sheena rescued us... as much as we rescued her! (sadly, we lost her on November 5th, 2009) |
